What are experiential and somatic therapies?

I pull primarily from two experiential and somatic therapeutic models:

I am trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) which uses the therapeutic relationship as a grounding and regulating tool to help clients turn towards and move through difficult memories and feelings.

The emphasis is on noting the emotion in your body and rather than only talking about the memory or emotion, you will learn how to experience it in the session and process it in a healthy way with support and guidance.

AEDP works for the assumption that you have a healing force/self that can help you attend to these difficult places in your psyche.

It is an effective modality for multiple diagnoses including trauma, depression, anxiety.

I am also trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) which maps the internal landscape as a combination of many different parts (including a core self) that have different roles and hold different emotions/memories.

One of the beauties of this model is that there is no ‘bad’ or ‘good’ parts. All expressions of behaviors are understood from a place of compassion as a way to help integrate them into a wholeness (the core self).

I am also trained in EMDR which is a trauma protocol first and foremost but I also use it regularly as a way to get in touch with and process difficult emotions. EMDR provides an excellent ‘container’ for approaching those feelings. There are also resourcing tools using the bilateral stimulation of EMDR that are very effective in building safety and grounding as we work on feelings and memories.

How do I get started?

I complete a complimentary 20 minute phone screening prior to meeting with clients. Prior to our first meeting you will be able to complete necessary forms that I’ll email to you. Paperwork typically takes between 5-20 minutes.

What can I expect in our sessions?

Our initial face to face meeting will be an intake and assessment which allows me to learn your story and time for us to get to know each other.

Individual sessions typically are weekly or every other week, and last 60-90 minutes depending on need and location. I have the option for in person sessions in Boulder or telehealth sessions provided you are in Colorado.

Goals of treatment are decided together and will evolve throughout the course of therapy.

What are your fees?

Initial Phone Consultation (20 minutes): Free

Office / Teletherapy / Session (60 minutes): $180

*Longer sessions are prorated at the standard hourly rate as needed.

Payments are due at or before the beginning of session. Payments may be made via online billing platform, check, or cash.  I accept most major credit cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours notice for any cancellations otherwise I will charge you for that session time at my regular rate.

Do you take insurance?
